The Hospital Land Exchange has closed. This action involved five public entities: the Town, the County, the Health Care District, the Fire District, and the U.S. Forest Service. It also involved an agreement with the Community Church, and the simultaneous closing of 18 privately owned parcels which were acquired and exchanged for the Forest Service land. The private parcels were critical in-holdings within the Inyo National Forest and Eldorado and Tahoe National Forest. The Town of Mammoth Lakes has entered into a separate three party agreement with the Town, County and State to sell a portion of the land to the State for a court building which may be built starting in spring of 2009. Plans for the Town’s Public Safety Facility are scheduled to be heard by the Planning Commission in December, and construction may also start in spring of 2009.
